ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades picked up a pair of wins at home this past week over division rival Gwinnett. Overall the Everblades enter this week with a record of 30-24-3 (63 pts., 3rd South Division).

GAME NOTES: The Everblades head out for their second to last road trip of the regular season when they head to South Carolina this weekend for a pair of games against the Stingrays. The games are the seventh and eighth of 13 between the South Division rivals and so far all the games between the clubs have been played in South Carolina. These two games are the final two at the North Charleston Coliseum. So far this season the Everblades are 3-2-1 vs. South Carolina and are coming off a 5-1 victory over the Stingrays the last time the teams met on January 14. Entering this week South Carolina holds a record of 30-21-4 (64 pts., 2nd South Division) and is 18-7-2 at home.

Player of the Week Nominee: This week's Player of the Week nominee is Matt Beca who posted six points (2g, 4a) in two games this past week, notching a power play and game-winning goal while posting a plus-4 rating vs. Gwinnett. The week's Goalie of the Week nominee is Jaroslav Janus who was 2-0-0 with a 2.50 goals against average and a .941 save percentage.
Special Teams Breakdown: Entering this week, here's a look at the Everblades power play and penalty killing: On the power play the Everblades rank 7th in the ECHL at 18.8 % (54-of-288)...at home the Blades are ranked 8th in the league at 18.9 % (25-of-132)...on the road the Everblades rank 7th at 18.6 % (29-of-156). On the penalty kill the Everblades find themselves 1st in the ECHL at 86.4 % (228-of-264)...at home the Everblades enter the week ranked 5th at 85.0 % (108-of-127)...on the road the Blades are currently 1st at 87.6 % (120-of-137).
Roster Moves: On Sunday the Everblades saw forward Francis Lemieux called up to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League. Lemieux, who moved into a tie for ninth place all-time in Everblades single-season history by record his 72nd point, heads to the AHL leading the ECHL in scoring with his 72 points. The Sherbrooke, Quebec native heads to the AHL for the second time this season having also played in two games with the Manitoba Moose.
League Leaders: Coming into this week Everblades forward Francis Lemieux continues leading the ECHL in scoring with his 72 points and is tied for third in the league in goals with 28 and finds himself second in the ECHL in assists with his 44. Forward Alex Imbeault currently leads the league lead in goals scored with 31 and leading the ECHL in power play goals with 14. Goaltender Bobby Goepfert is fourth in the league in wins with 19 and is third in the ECHL in saves with 1020.
Who's Hot: Here's a look at who's currently riding hot streaks. F Francis Lemieux has tallied at least one point in nine of the last ten games (8g, 12a)...F Alex Imbeault has picked up points in three straight games (4g, 2a)...F Matt Beca has recorded points in three straight games and five of the last six (3g, 6a).
Single-Season Team Records: A few players on this year's squad are approaching Everblade all-time single-season records with their numbers. F Francis Lemieux has moved into a tie for ninth overall in single-season history for points in one year with 72 and is now ninth all-time in assists with his 44...Lemieux is also two goals from being in the top 10...F Alex Imbeault now tied for seventh all-time for goals in a season with his 31 and is now tied for second all time in power play goals in one year with 14...G Bobby Goepfert is quickly moving toward the top 10 in a couple single-season goaltending categories finding himself one game away from cracking the top 10 and one win shy of moving into 10th all-time.
Long Time Rivals: When the Everblades and Stingrays meet up this weekend it will once again renew what is the longest rivalry for the Everblades in their history. This is the 13th year of the long time division rivalry and including games this season the Blades and Rays have met a total of 108 times. Heading into this weekend's action the Everblades hold a record of 58-36-14 vs. South Carolina. The next longest rivalry the Everblades have is against the Pensacola Ice Pilots who they faced 79 times. The longest current rival ECHL team for Florida is the Gwinnett Gladiators who, including this season, they have faced 76 times.
Watch for Lightning!: This Tuesday afternoon Lightning is scheduled to hit Estero. In the midst of a 12-game home stand, the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League will be taking a break from their usual home routine and head south a bit to change things up. From 1 - 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22 the Lightning will be practicing at Germain Arena. The practice is open to the public so fans have a chance to see the newest affiliate of the Everblades.
