Utah Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, California - The Utah Grizzlies fell 4-3 in a shoot-out to Fresno after taking a early 2-0 lead. The big story of the game however, was the fact that the Grizzlies had to finish the game with their emergency back-up Ryan Lowe.

The Grizzlies got the game going late in the first period when Rob Sirianni fed Ryan Kinasewich from the left boards for his 16th goal of the season. Ian Forbes was also credited with an assist.

The Grizzlies continued their scoring into the 2nd taking a 2-0 when Olivier Labelle knocked home a rebound off a Garett Bembridge wrist shot. It was Labelle's 23rd of the year and Jeff Dwyer also received an assist on the goal. Fresno closed the gap however just under five minutes left in the 2nd when Matt Stefanishion scored from the slot to make it 2-1.

Just before the period began Nathan Lawson did not return to the ice, so the Grizzlies had to put in their emergency back-up Lowe for the remainder of the game. Fresno came out and tied the score just over seven minutes into the third when Pierre-Olivier Beaulieu scored through a screen. The Grizzlies answered right back when Sirianni scored on the power-play from Andrew MacDonald. The Grizzlies could not hold on however, with just over three minutes left Brady Leisenring batted a puck out of mid-air to tie the score at three.

The game went to a shoot-out and Sirianni and Tyler Haskins each scored and Lowe played well for an emergency goaltender but, the Falcons won the shoot-out 3-2 in six rounds.

Lawson stopped 17 of 18 shots through two periods and Lowe finished with 13 saves on 15 shots.

Utah returns home to the E-Center Wednesday, Friday and Sunday hosting Fresno. Wednesday and Friday's games will start at 7:05 p.m. with a special 4:05 p.m. start scheduled for Sunday the 9th.
