Dayton Bombers News Release

Reading, PA- The Bombers (25-20-5-5), coming off a win in Elmira last night, were aiming to carry the momentum into today's early evening contest against the Reading Royals (33-18-4-1). In a first period full of action at the Sovereign Center, including Dayton taking 9 shots, neither team was able to find the back of the net. Dayton's Jeremy Duchesne, however, came up huge, stopping all 13 of the shots that flew his way. The Bombers killed the only power play that they faced in the period.

The second period brought more action, as both teams were able to get on the scoreboard. The Royals' Ned Lukacevic got the first goal of the contest when he snuck one in the back of the net for his 14th goal of the season at the 7:53 mark. Reading's lead didn't hold up for long, because league-leader Matt Beaudoin soon notched his 34th goal of the season, with the Bombers capitalizing on the power play. Both Mike Walsh and Captain Greg Labenski set up Beaudoin nicely on the play. The goal increased Beaudoin's league lead to five goals over the next top scorer. Duchesne faced 18 shots in the period stopping 17 of them giving him 30 saves through two periods. The teams headed into the locker room after 40 minutes of play all tied at one.

The two teams fought hard throughout the third period, with the first goal coming only at the 17:32 mark, when Reading's Joe Zappala scored his 6th goal in as many games to give the Royals a 2-1 lead. They did add another just minutes later as Dave Pszenyczny notched an empty netter for his 4th of the year. Jeremy Duchesne made one dramatic stop after another for Dayton, holding off 42 of the Royals' 44 shots in the game.

The Dayton Bombers look to get back in the win column as they start their Carolina road swing against the South Carolina Stingrays Tuesday night, March 4th, at 7:05.

The Bombers return to action at the Nutter Center on Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15, against the Trenton Devils, and Sunday, March 16, against the Cincinnati Cyclones for a three-day St. Patrick's Day weekend!
