Utah Grizzlies News Release

This Week

Wednesday: Utah at Victoria, 8:05 p.m.

Friday: Utah at Victoria, 8:05 p.m.

Saturday: Utah at Victoria, 8:05 p.m.

Playoff Bound!

Friday night, thanks to the Alaska Aces who defeated the Bakersfield Condors, the Grizzlies clinched a playoff berth for the second time in three years. The postseason will start the week of April 7. The Grizzlies currently have nine games (five road, four home) left in the regular season and a record of 30-26-1-6.

Shorthanded

With several call-ups over the last few weeks, the Grizzlies had just 14 skaters this weekend in Las Vegas and despite that managed to compete with the Wranglers who hold the best record in the National Conference. The Grizzlies dropped two one-goal games in Las Vegas Friday (2-1) and Saturday (4-3).

Victoria

The Grizzlies travel to Victoria this weekend for Wednesday, Friday and Saturday games with the Salmon Kings. Utah took two of three last time they paid a visit to Vancouver Island in early January. The Grizzlies were also shorthanded that weekend, but were still able to pull off two one-goal overtime wins.

Welcome Aboard

The Grizzlies signed goaltender Wylie Rogers prior to the past weekend's action in Las Vegas. He recently completed four years of college hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and holds nearly every goaltending record in school history. Prior to the signing, the Grizzlies had just one healthy goaltender in Mike Mole. Nathan Lawson remains on 7-day Injured Reserve. Rogers made his pro debut in Saturday's 4-3 loss at Las Vegas.

Going Against The Stats

This weekend, the Grizzlies dropped two one-goal games on the road for the first time all year. Utah is now 8-2-0-2 this year in one-goal games on the road. The Grizzlies also lost two games in a row in regulation on the road for the first time since November. Saturday was also the first time all year when the Grizzlies have had two power-play goals on the road and lost (9-1-0-0). The Grizzlies also lost just their second game of the year when leading after two periods on Saturday (19-2-0-4).
