The Florida Everblades defeated the Mississippi Sea Wolves 4-1 to sweep the three-game series at Germain Arena in Estero, Florida on Tuesday evening.

Mississippi took the lead early in the first period when Ryan Menei found a loose puck while standing near the right post and flicked it past Florida goaltender David Shantz for his 20th goal of the season to give the Sea Wolves a 1-0 lead at 3:31 of the first period. Florida would even the score just 12 seconds later when Mathieu Melanson redirected Adam Taylor's centering pass through Sea Wolves goalie Ryan Munce's legs at 3:43 of the first period.

Preston Callander scored at 9:01 of the second period, taking a pass from Ernie Hartlieb and throwing the puck past Munce for a power-play goal to give Florida a 2-1 lead. Callander added another power-play goal at 15:29 of the third period, and Steve Czech would give Florida a 4-1 lead at 17:47 of the third period, cashing in on a two-on-one break with Hartlieb.

Mississippi was 0-for-9 on the power play, including a major power play as a result of a charging call against Florida's David Cornacchia at 14:19 of the second period. Ryan Munce made 29 saves on 33 shots to earn the loss.

Sea Wolves Notebook

With the 4-1 loss at Florida last weekenloss last Tuesday, the Sea Wolves fell to 0-5-0 against the Everblades at Germain Arena... The last time the Sea Wolves beat the Everblades on the road was December 9, 2003...Sean Matile earned the win in goal for Mississippi in that win, while Brent Gauvreau scored the game-winning goal... Ryan Menei leads the Sea Wolves with two goals and one assist in March... The Winnipeg native has seven points (6g, 1a) in his last six games.

Hockey And Sake

The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced that Hockey And Sake presented by Genie The Floridst, a dinner for fans at the Jia Restaurant at Beau Rivage on March 13, raised over $5,000 for the Sea Wolves Foundation.

"Geneie The Florist and Jia Restaurant helped put together a tremendous event for The Sea Wolves Foundation," said Sea Wolves president Bill Yates. "The meal was fantastic, money was raised for a good cause, and our fans got a chance to interact with the players in a unique environment.."

Easter Egg Hunt

The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Friday that the team and their mascot Hook will host an Easter egg hunt on the south side of the Mississippi Coast Coliseum grounds under the oaks at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, prior to the team's game against the Texas Wildcatters, which will start at 5:05 p.m. You do not need a game ticket to attend.

"The Sea Wolves feel that it is important to share the Easter holiday with your friends and family," said Sea Wolves president Bill Yates. "We're excited to host this event and hope that South Mississippians will bring their families and join us under the oaks on Easter Sunday."

The Easter egg hunt will feature appearances by Hook and the Easter bunny. Plenty of prizes will be given away to attendees.

The next broadcast of Sea Wolves hockey is Tuesday when the Sea Wolves visit the Florida Everblades, and will be heard on 1640-AM WTNI. The pre-game show will begin at 6:05 p.m! Games can also be heard on the B2 Networks and at www.msseawolves.com.
