Royals Sign Goaltender John Murray

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the organization has signed goaltender John Murray. In a separate transaction, the Royals also released goaltender Anthony Feyock.

Murray (6'1"/206) (20), who hails from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, just completed his second season of major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League, compiling a record of 12-15-1 with a 3.78 goals against average and a .901 save percentage with the Kingston Frontenacs. In his first season in the OHL, Murray put up spectacular numbers with the Kitchener Rangers where he was chosen as the team's Most Valuable Player. That season, he finished second in the league in wins (40); third in goals against average (2.58); and seventh in save percentage (.909). Murray, who led the OHL with five shutouts in 2006-07, was selected to represent Kitchener in the 2007 OHL All-Star Classic in Saginaw, Michigan. A product of the Junior Flyers program in Southeastern, Pennsylvania, Murray was the OHL's Goaltender of the Month in March of 2007 and was named the Goaltender of the Week throughout the entire Canadian Hockey League on December 6, 2006.

Feyock appeared in two games for the Royals and compiled a record of 0-2-0 with a 2.37 gaa and a .912 save percentage.

The Royals return to action on Friday night (March 21; 7:35 pm) at First Arena in Elmira, New York against the Elmira Jackals. The game night broadcast on Friday will begin at 7:05 pm with the pre-game warm-up show on ESPN Radio 1240 am in Ephrata, as well as on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
