Utah Grizzlies News Release

WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH – The Utah Grizzlies, in conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), released their 2004-05 regular season schedule today. The Grizzlies open their regular season and the AHL season on Wednesday, October 13th when they host the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks at the ‘E' Center.

The Grizzlies have 12 different opponents this season with Chicago, Houston, Milwaukee and San Antonio occupying the bulk of the schedule with 10 meetings each. Both Cincinnati and Grand Rapids will oppose the Grizzlies eight (8) times each. The Grizzlies will face two teams for the first time in 2004-05, the Edmonton Roadrunners and the Rochester Americans. The other 10 opponents have some history with the Grizzlies over the course of Utah's three years in the AHL and 10 years as a franchise.

The Grizzlies play 56 of their 80 game schedule within the Western Division, the same amount they played last season. Only eight (8) games this season will come from outside the Western Conference, the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Manchester Monarchs.

This season, Utah will be a part of a special neutral site game in Los Angeles at the Staples Center on Saturday, October 23rd where the Grizzlies will be the home team facing the Los Angeles King's affiliate, Manchester.

The busiest months for the Grizzlies will be December and March (15 games). November, January and February will see the Grizzlies play 11 games each month with 10 games scheduled in April and seven (7) games slated for October. The 10 game month of April marks the busiest final month in Grizzlies history. The Grizzlies will play eight (8) home games in December and March marking the most populated home months. Utah will play 20 of their 40 home games before January.

Utah's longest homestand will be six (6) games, which falls on the schedule on two separate occasions. The first comes November 11th through November 24th and the second runs from March 7th through March 18th. Utah will also host two separate five-game homestands, one in December and one in January.

The Grizzlies will have a season-long eight-game road trip from December 28th-January 16th covering games in Manchester, Hartford, Cincinnati and Rochester. Also on Utah's schedule are one six-game road swing and three separate four-game journeys.

Utah's busiest day of the week is Saturday where they will play 23 games (10 at home). The Grizzlies will play a total of 22 Friday night games (11 at home) and 17 Wednesday night games (12 at home). Last season, the Grizzlies went 6-1 at the ‘E' Center on Wednesday nights.

Utah will host a special afternoon game versus Houston on President's Day (Monday, February 21st) beginning at 2:05 PM. Opening night will see a special 7:35 PM starts time while all other 38 Grizzlies home games will begin at 7:05 PM.

The Grizzlies will play 27 back-to-back series' and just four (4) three-games-in-three night scenarios compared to seven (7) last season.
