Falcons announce 2004-05 schedule

Springfield, MA â The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today released the club's 2004-2005 regular season schedule. The campaign marks the Falcons' 11th season of competition and their first under a new sole affiliation with the Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Falcons' 80-game regular season schedule begins on Friday, October 15th on the road against the Providence Bruins. As previously announced, the Falcons' home opener will be played on Saturday, October 23rd at the Springfield Civic Center. The Worcester IceCats will be the opponent. The club's regular season concludes with a home-and-home series versus I-91 rivals, the Hartford Wolf Pack, on Saturday, April 16th at home and Sunday, April 17th in Connecticut.
The Falcons' home schedule includes 15 Friday games and 18 Saturday contests. February will be the busiest month for home games as the Falcons will play nine games at the Civic Center during those 28 days.
"We are very pleased with our schedule. The heavy concentration of weekend dates allows us to continue to make Falcons' hockey a family event," said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. "Also, our geographic location allows us to travel to most of our road games on the day of the game which frees up more practice time for the team. This was very important to the Tampa Bay Lightning organization."
The Falcons also announced a change in start times for Saturday home games to 7:05 p.m. Home game times for other days will remain the same as last season: Fridays â 7:35 p.m., Weekdays â 7:05 p.m., and Sundays â 4:05 p.m.
A monthly and daily breakdown of the Falcons' home schedule is as follows:
