
Sound Tigers Announce 2004-05 Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, have announced their schedule for 2004-05 regular season. The Sound Tigers will open their fourth season of play, and fourth as the top affiliate of the Islanders, with a three-game home stand beginning on Saturday, October 16th when they host the Albany River Rats at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. The October 16th game will mark the first time in their four-year history that the Sound Tigers will play their first game of the season on home ice. They will also be home for a stretch of four straight games around the Christmas holiday, as well as four of their final five games of the regular season.
Other highlights of the Sound Tigers' 2004-05 regular-season schedule include:
â¢Eight meetings, four at home, with all seven East Division rivals, including the first visit by last year's playoff opponent, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, on Sunday, November 14th.
â¢Ten meetings, five at home, with the archrival Hartford Wolf Pack, including a pair of marquee contests in Bridgeport the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 26th, and the day after Christmas, Sunday, December 26th.
â¢A road game versus the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Wachovia Center, the home of their NHL affiliate, the Philadelphia Flyers, on Wednesday, October 27th.
â¢A Thanksgiving road game versus the Binghamton Senators on Thursday, November 25th. The Sound Tigers also visited the Senators last Thanksgiving, winning 5-4.
â¢The second-annual "Cool Fun 101" educationally-themed morning game at 11:05 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1st versus the Norfolk Admirals.
â¢A four-game, holiday home stand, with two contests on either side of Christmas, versus the Worcester IceCats on Monday, December 20th; Philadelphia on Wednesday, December 22nd; Hartford on December 26th and the Portland Pirates on Tuesday, December 28th.
â¢Seven straight road games to start a stretch of nine of ten contests away from home, beginning with a New Year's Eve visit to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday, December 31st.
â¢Two-game home stands during the final two weekends of the regular season on Saturday and Sunday, April 9th and 10th versus the Lowell Lock Monsters and Binghamton, as well as Saturday and Sunday, April 16th and 17th versus the Manchester Monarchs and Hershey Bears.
The Sound Tigers have also announced the start times for their home games will be 4:05 p.m. on Sundays, 7:35 p.m. on Fridays and 7:05 p.m. for all other days except the Wednesday, December 1st morning game. The Sound Tigers' complete 2004-05 regular-season schedule follows:
