Crunch Announce 2004-05 Schedule

Syracuse, NY (August 10, 2004) – The Syracuse Crunch announced today their schedule for the 2004-05 hockey season.

Syracuse will open their 11th season against the St. John's Maple Leafs on Friday, October 15, the ninth time in the Crunch's eleven-year history that they will open at home.

The 40-game home schedule includes 33 weekend dates with Saturday being the busiest home night for the Crunch with 16 games. Friday follows in order of frequency with 15 games. The Crunch play five games on Wednesday, two games on Sunday and one each on Monday and Thursday.

The Crunch will play 42 games against their North Division foes (Rochester 12, Cleveland 8, St. John's 8, Hamilton 6, Edmonton 4 and Manitoba 4). Syracuse also has 12 contests against the West Division (Chicago 2, Cincinnati 4, Houston 2, Milwaukee 2 and San Antonio 2). In addition, the Crunch will face-off against the East Division 26 times (Binghamton 8, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 8, Albany 4, Hershey 4 and Philadelphia 2). Syracuse will not face any team in the Atlantic Division during the regular season.

The Crunch play 8 games in October, 13 games in November, 11 games in December, 12 games in January, 13 games in February, 13 games in March and 10 in April. The Crunch will play 9 home games in March, the most of any month.

The longest home stand of the season is five games, which happens three times, with 15 days being the longest (December 4-18). The Crunch's longest road trip of the season is six games, which happens two times, with 13 days being the longest (October 31 – November 12). The Crunch will play three games in three nights 12 times this season, three more than the previous two seasons.

Notable games include, hosting the defending Calder Cup Champion Milwaukee Admirals December 11 and facing Rochester for the first time on October 31, in Rochester. Syracuse travels to Edmonton for their first-ever meeting on November 2 and Edmonton makes their first-ever appearance at the War Memorial at Oncenter on March 5.

The 2004-05 season is only the second time in franchise history the Crunch will not play on New Year's Eve (2000-01) and marks the first ever- six games in seven nights stretch (February 18-24).
