Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee Admirals Executive Vice President/General Manager Phil Wittliff today announced that the Admirals begin defense of their Calder Cup Championship on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 7 pm when they take the ice against their arch-rival Chicago Wolves. The Admirals will play an 80-game, unbalanced schedule that will conclude over six months later on Sunday, April 17th when the team travels to Texas to do battle with the San Antonio Rampage.

Home Schedule

Thirteen of the 27 other AHL teams will visit the Bradley Center this season. The only team to make their inaugural appearance at the Bradley Center this year will be the Edmonton Roadrunners, who recently relocated from Toronto. The Roadrunners will play twice at the BC: March 19th and April 2nd.

The Admirals will play Chicago, Houston, San Antonio, and Utah five times each in Milwaukee. The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and Grand Rapids Griffins will make four visits each to the Bradley Center.

This year's schedule also gives Milwaukee their longest homestand in franchise history when they play nine straight games on Bradley Center ice from February 26 to March 23. The previous mark of eight games came in the 1997-98 season. In addition, the Ads will play in just one other city besides Milwaukee from February 10 to March 23. They travel to Grand Rapids twice in that span.

Road Schedule

Milwaukee's 40 game road schedule is highlighted by a six-game Thanksgiving trip that includes four games in Canada and their first ever trip to Edmonton and the Rexall Place, also home to the NHL's Edmonton Oilers. The Admirals longest stretch away from the BC is seven games, from January 23 to February 1, that will see the team play games in Texas (Houston and San Antonio), Ohio (Cincinnati), Michigan (Grand Rapids), and Newfoundland, Canada.

Bradley Center Game Times

Face-off time for homes games Monday through Friday is 7 pm. On eight of 11 Saturdays the puck will drop at 7:30 pm, while on Saturdays, November 13th, January 8th, and February 12th the Ads will play 1:30 pm matinees. All three Sunday affairs will begin at different times. January 16th versus St. John's is slated for 4 pm, February 20th against Cincinnati will begin at 5 pm and March 6th against Grand Rapids is set for 2 pm.

Rule Changes

The AHL will impliment a number of rule changes this year that will have a direct effect on the standings, including the addition of a shoot-out to any game that is tied after overtime. The team that wins the shootout will receive two points in the standings while the losing team will still receive a point for the shoot-out lose. In addition the league will reduce the number of teams that qualify for post-season play from 20 to 16 teams, eliminating the best-of-three qualifying series. The top four teams in each division will make the playoffs. 2004-05 Milwaukee Admirals Schedule
