Worcester IceCats News Release
WORCESTER, MA- In conjunction with the American Hockey League (AHL), the Worcester IceCats today announced their 80-game, 2004-2005 regular season schedule. The 40-game home schedule includes 30 weekend games at Worcester's Centrum Centre (Fri., Sat., Sun.).
After opening the season on the road in Manchester, New Hampshire on Friday, October 15th, the IceCats will kick off the home slate at Worcester's Centrum Centre against the Springfield Falcons the following night at 7:05 PM. The game will be the first of 12 Saturday night contests in Worcester. Other weekend home numbers include 10 Friday contests and eight Sundays. The additional split confirms one Tuesday home game, seven Wednesday's and two Thursday's.
Twenty-nine of the IceCats 40 home dates are against Atlantic Division opponents, including the Providence Bruins' first visit to Worcester on Friday, October 29th. The heated rivalry is also dotted throughout the hockey calendar on three Saturday nights and one Wednesday. Similar to the 10th Anniversary campaign, the âCats will put bookends on the season against Manchester. Bringing a new dimension to this divisional competition is the fact that Worcester ousted the Monarchs in the first round of the 2004 Calder Cup playoffs.
Other exciting home games include three dates surrounding Thanksgiving; On Wednesday, November 24th, the IceCats host Portland. Lowell is in on the 26th, followed by Bridgeport on the 27th. The IceCats will battle the Falcons the day after Christmas and the Binghamton Senators are in town for a New Year's Day game.
Sunday home games will begin at 4:05 PM, while all others will start at 7:05 PM.
Season tickets are on sale now at the IceCats offices located at 105 Commercial Street in downtown Worcester or by calling 800-830-CATS.
