Utah Grizzlies News Release

Victoria, British Columbia - Utah came out with a strong effort Friday night, pressuring Victoria's goaltender and playing well on the penalty kill, but still couldn't find the back of the net and lost in Victoria 4-0.

Victoria started off the scoring taking a 1-0 lead 6:17 into the first period when Wes Goldie beat Wylie Rogers after a Jeff Dwyer giveaway in the defensive zone.

The Salmon Kings extended their lead less than two minutes into the second period when Jacob Dietrich scored off a one-timer to give Victoria a 2-0 lead. Just over seven minutes later Victoria took a 3-0 lead when Matt Kelly beat Rogers off a rebound.

Victoria put the game out of reach with less than five minutes left in the game when Dietrich put in a loose puck in front to give Victoria a 4-0 lead.

Utah played well taking 30 shots on Victoria, but Billy Thompson preserved the shutout stopping all 30 shots. Utah also had a strong penalty kill Friday night, killing off all five Victoria power-plays.

Rogers had a strong game in net stopping 28 of 32 shots, but stood on his head most of the game.

Utah completes their five-game road trip Saturday in Victoria. Face-off is scheduled for 8:05 p.m.

The Grizzlies return home Wednesday to host Las Vegas at 7:05 p.m. at the E-Center.
