Bakersfield Condors News Release
FRESNO, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors suffered a 4-1 loss to the Fresno Falcons in front of 5,677 fans at Save Mart Center in Fresno on Friday night. Despite the setback, the Condors remain just four points behind the Phoenix RoadRunners and Stockton Thunder, who are tied for seventh place, in the National Conference playoff race.
2008-3-21 di ubaldo After the puck slid up and down the ice with very few stoppages for the first 11 minutes of the opening frame, both teams got on the board within just 17 seconds of each other. Fresno started the scoring, but RW Chris Di Ubaldo answered with his third of the year for Bakersfield (20-36-9, 49 points) at 11:58 to tie the game, 1-1. However, the Falcons (39-17-8, 86 points) regained the advantage with a RW Kenny Bernard tally and took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
The two teams threw nine shots on goal apiece in the second period, but both Condors G Yutaka Fukufuji and Fresno G Jake Moreland stood tall, turning aside every shot they faced to uphold the 2-1 score through two periods.
The Falcons pushed their lead to 3-1 just over seven minutes into the final frame with a goal from RW Brady Leisenring. After the Condors pulled Fukufuji for an extra attacker with 3:04 left in the game, Bernard slapped the puck the length of the ice into the empty Bakersfield net, accounting for the 4-1 final score.
