Bakersfield Condors News Release
The Condors look for a weekend split with a 6 p.m. contest in San Diego.
LOOKING BACK
Bakersfield surrendered a first period power play goal and could not recover in a 3-1 loss to the Gulls last night.
HAMMER TIME
James Hamblin scored for the third straight game last night and carries a five-game scoring streak into action tonight. Since the New Year, the Edmonton native has 15 points (8g-7a) in 15 games. He paces the Condors with a +13. His career high for goals is 21 in 64 games set in 2021-22. Last night was his 16th goal in 40 games.
EXTRA! EXTRA!
Hamblin's extra attacker goal was his second in three games and the Condors third overall in their last three games.
UNGAR STRIKE
Connor Ungar is expected to make his 11th start of the season tonight. Last Saturday in Ontario was the first time in 10 starts he did not record a .900 save percentage or better. Overall he is 8-2-0 with a 1.99 goals-against average and .939 save percentage. His .942 save percentage since January 1 is third among qualified AHL goaltenders.
SLIP UP
Bakersfield is on their first three-game losing streak of the season. The team has scored seven goals in those games and nine non-empty net goals.
ATRO'S RETURN
Atro Leppanen returned to the lineup last night and led the team with six shots. He is not expected to play tonight as part of his return to play program.
POWER DOWN
The Condors have not scored a power-play goal in five straight games, going 0/9 over that span. Bakersfield has the best road power play in the league at 28.2%.
HELPING OUT
Riley Stillman has a goal and assist in the last two games while Samuel Poulin has assists in back-to-back games.
TIGHTLY CONTESTED
Five teams, including the Condors, have .600 points percentages or better, including Coachella Valley who won its third straight to pull into a tie for third with the Condors last night.
ROOKIE DUO
Quinn Hutson (1st) and Isaac Howard (6th) are each in the top-1o in AHL rookie scoring. Hutson is third in the league in goals with 24, but has just one in his last 11 games. Howard has had multi-point games in nine of his 23 with the Condors this season.
SHORTY
Both teams tonight have had strong shorthanded success this season. The teams are tied for second with seven shorthanded goals apiece.
GULLS FLYING
San Diego is on a four-game winning streak for the first time this season and is unbeaten in five straight (4-0-1). Expected starter Calle Clang represented the Gulls at the AHL All-Star Classic this week. Tim Washe, who was also in Rockford this week, scored the eventual game-winner last night.

The Condors are home for two games next week including Weiner Wednesday (click here for tickets) and Condors Fighting Cancer Night Friday.
