Colorado Eagles News Release
ROSEMONT, IL. - Chicago forward Skyler Brind'Amour scored the game-tying goal late in the third period, while fellow forward Felix Unger Sorum netted the game-winner just 2:42 into overtime, as the Wolves wiped away a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Colorado Eagles 3-2 on Saturday. Chicago goaltender Cayden Primeau earned the win in net, making 30 saves on 32 shots, as the Wolves finished 1-for-3 on the power play and a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
A delayed penalty against Chicago would set up Eagles defenseman Jack Ahcan to open the scoring, as he buried a wrister from the top of the left-wing circle, making it 1-0 at the 14:32 mark. The goal was his sixth of the season, tying his career high, and extending his point streak to six games.
Colorado would go on to outshoot the Wolves 12-9 in the opening 20 minutes and carried a 1-0 advantage into the first intermission.
An Eagles turnover in their own zone would allow Chicago defenseman Juuso Valimaki to stride into the left-wing circle before lighting the lamp with a wrist shot, leveling the score at 1-1 at the 3:09 mark of the second period.
As time wound down in the middle frame, Colorado forward Nikita Prishchepov would field a cross-slot feed in the right-wing circle before smashing home a one-timer, putting the Eagles back on top 2-1 with 3:30 remaining.
Still trailing 2-1 and with time winding down in the third period, the Wolves would pull Primeau in favor of the extra attacker, and the move would pay off. A rebound from behind the net landed on the tape of Brind'Amour at the top of the crease, as he tucked it over the goal line, tying the game at 2-2 with just 1:14 remaining in regulation.
In overtime, Colorado defenseman Ronnie Attard would be sent to the penalty box for slashing, setting up Chicago's third power play of the night. On the man-advantage, Unger Sorum would camp out at the top of the crease before steering a centering feed past goalie Kyle Keyser, giving the Wolves the 3-2 win.
Keyser suffered the overtime loss, allowing three goals on 38 shots.
The Eagles will be back in action when they take on the Chicago Wolves on Sunday, February 15th at 2:00pm MT at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.
