Bakersfield Condors News Release

The Condors return from the AHL All-Star break to host the San Diego Gulls for the second time this season. It is the front end of a home-and-home weekend series.

LOOKING BACK

Bakersfield dropped back-to-back games in regulation for just the second time this season, falling 4-3 in Ontario on Saturday. It was just the second time this year as well the Condors fell in regulation when leading after two periods.

HAMMER TIME

James Hamblin had a goal and assist on Saturday and led the Condors with five points in three games last week. Since the New Year, the Edmonton native has 14 points (7g-7a) in 15 games. He paces the Condors with a +13.

THE ICEMAN COMETH

Isaac Howard had an assist in Saturday's game. Since being reassigned by Edmonton, the Wisconsin native has seven points (2g-5a) in six games. He is sixth in the AHL rookie scoring race despite playing in at minimum 19 fewer games than anyone in the top-five.

ROOKIE BLUELINERS

Damien Carfagna and Beau Akey are both among AHL rookie leaders on the blue line this season. Carfagna is eighth with 13 points on the campaign while Akey is t-5th with a +12.

TIGHT AT THE TOP

Five teams in the Pacific (Colorado, Ontario, Bakersfield, San Jose, Coachella Valley) are better than .611 points percentage. Bakersfield is in third, six points out of second, and two points up on fourth-place San Jose.

ATRO'S RETURN

Atro Leppanen is expected to play in his first game since December 27 tonight. He has 10 points (2g-8a) in his last 11 games and still leads the team in scoring by a d-man with 20 points (3g-17a) in 28 games.

GET AHEAD

The Condors are an AHL-best +22 in first period goal differential including scoring three times in the first on Saturday.

SHORTHANDED SUCCESS

Hamblin's goal on Saturday was the team's seventh shorthanded marker of the season, tied for second in the AHL.

TOMMER'S TIME

Matt Tomkins is expected to get the start tonight. Of goaltenders with at least 300 minutes since January 1, Tomkins is third in save percentage at .946 and fifth in goals-against average at 1.98. He is 5-2-2 in his last nine decisions.

SEEING STARS

Quinn Hutson represented the Condors at the AHL All-Star Classic this week and was part of the victorious Pacific Division side. He leads all rookies in scoring with 43 points (24g-19a) in 41 games.

MR. OLYMPIAN

Josh Samanski is currently at the Olympics with Team Germany and played alongside former Condor Leon Draisaitl as the Germans beat Denmark 3-1 on Thursday. Samanski is one of six former/current Condors competing in Milan.

RESTED GULLS
