Grizz Overcome 3-0 Deficit, Win 4-3 in Shootout

Long Beach, California - The Utah Grizzlies down 3-0 early in the second period score three unanswered goals in second half of the second period and win in the 7th round of the shoot-out to give them six wins in the past seven games.

The Long Beach Ice Dogs jumped off to a fast start, scoring 6:48 into the game, Ash Goldie scored his 13th on the Power Play from the point. Long Beach then doubled up their lead when 9:29 into the first, Jeff Mason scored his 7th of the season from in the slot. Then the period got physical with Brad Herauf dropping the gloves off the face-off after the second goal and Gordon Burnett and Joel Irving also fought before the period was out.

Long Beach continued to take control of the game as Ash Goldie scored his second of the game splitting the defense 4:32 into the second. The Grizzlies began to mount a comeback as Andy Sertich scored on a 5-on-3 Power Play for his 4th of the season on the doorstep. The goal occurred with 9:29 left in the second with assists to Ryan Kinasewich and Brendan Cook. Just 34 seconds later Jimmie Kraft let a wrist shot go from the left wing circle for a Power Play goal and his fourth of the season. Utah was able to come back and tie it with less than three minutes remaining in the second as Kinasewich put his 24th of the season in from the right slot with the assist going to Matt Craig.

Utah and Long Beach continued to stay tied through the third finishing regulation tied at three, then staying scoreless in overtime. The game was finally decided in the 7th round of the shoot-out when Matt Craig scored to end the game. The Grizzlies won the shoot-out 4-3 with goals from D.J. Jelitto, Luciano Aquino, Kinasewich, and Craig.

Rob McVicar was solid in net stopping 34 of 37 shots.

The Grizzlies return to action Saturday in Long Beach once again. Face-off is scheduled 8:00 p.m.

Utah returns home next Wednesday, Friday and Saturday hosting Phoenix. All face-offs are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
