Trenton Devils News Release

WHEELING, WV - The Trenton Titans battled back to take the lead in the third period only to fall in the shootout to Wheeling Nailers, 3-2, in front of 3,820 at the WesBanco Arena.

Troy Riddle gave Trenton their first lead of the game with time dwindling on a power play. Jim Henkel broke across the blueline and hit a streaking Riddle who fired the wrist shot into the back of the net at 12:13.

That lead lasted all of thirty-one seconds as the Nailers took the ensuing faceoff into the Titans' zone where Vin Hellemeyer was able to grab a loose puck out of the scrum in front and tuck it into the open net.

After a scoreless overtime, Andy Franck helped clinch the win for Wheeling denying all four shooters for Trenton while Hellemeyer and Joe Guenther converted for the Nailers.

It took only thirty seconds for Wheeling to get on the board as Jordan Cameron batted his own rebound past Joel Martin for the early 1-0 lead.

The Titans tied it at 13:52 of the second period when Mike Pandolfo took a breakaway pass, lost his footing, but was still able to swing the puck past Andy Franck for his 30th goal of the season.

Trenton finished 1-for-5 on the man-advantage and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Titans return home to battle the Reading Royals on Sunday, January 28 at 4:00pm. Tune into WBCB-1490AM to hear all of the Titans action live or listen or watch live via B2 Networks at www.trentontitans.com
