HERSHEY scored five unanswered goals Friday night to post a 5-1 win over the Syracuse Crunch at the War Memorial at OnCenter. The win was HERSHEY'S 11th of the season, pulling the team within seven points of first place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the East Division race.

Former Philadelphia/Adirondack Phantom Patrick Maroon scored his first goal for Syracuse in the first period Friday night, which proved to be the only lamp-lighter of the night for the home team. The goal at 11:10 of the first period gave Syracuse a 1-0 lead. The BEARS responded late in the first period with Andrew Gordon's 13th goal of the season, a strike at 16:04 from Lawrence Nycholat and Mathieu Perreault. Nycholat fired a shot from the high slot, which was tipped past Syracuse goaltender Timo Pielmeier by Gordon. The two teams went to intermission tied at a goal apiece.

HERSHEY pulled away in the second period, beginning with the eventual game-winning goal from Perreault. Gordon fired a shot from the slot to begin the play, with Perreault pouncing on the rebound to make the score 2-1 just 1:19 into the frame. A short time later at the 5:10 mark, captain Andrew Joudrey scored his third of the season with the primary playmaker handed to Steve Pinizzotto. Pinizzotto skated from behind the net and fed Joudrey near the top of the left circle to give the Chocolate and White a 3-1 advantage.

The BEARS headed to the third period up by two, and added to the lead when Gordon scored his second of the game and 14th of the year at 9:50. Kyle Greentree rounded out the scoring with his 10th of the season at 13:18 to round out Friday's goal scoring. Goaltender Dany Sabourin made 25 saves to earn his fourth win of the year, three of which have come against Syracuse at the War Memorial. Sabourin has allowed just one goal in his last two games against the Crunch. Pielmeier was pulled from the game after allowing the third goal against in the second period. He was replaced by J.P Levasseur, who gave up the final two goals of the night. Syracuse is now winless in six straight games.
