Canucks Assign Parent to Moose for Conditioning

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, today announced they have assigned defenceman Ryan Parent to the Moose for conditioning.

Parent, 23, has played in four games this season with the Canucks. He was obtained by Vancouver along with forward Jonas Andersson on Oct. 5 from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenceman Shane O'Brien and right winger Dan Gendur. The Prince Albert, SK native has played in 106 NHL games in four pro seasons with the Canucks and Philadelphia Flyers. In the NHL, he has recorded seven points (1g, 6a) and 36 penalty minutes. Parent played in 17 games for the Flyers during the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs and appeared in game one of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks. He has played in 74 career AHL games, all with the Philadelphia Phantoms. In the AHL, Parent has scored 10 points (2g, 8a) and 64 penalty minutes.

He was originally drafted by the Nashville Predators in the first round, 18th overall, of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
