LOOKING AHEAD:
Manitoba heads west to battle Abbotsford on Friday and Saturday for the North Division rivals' first two meetings of the 2010-11 campaign... The Moose took six of eight games from the Heat last season, including a 3-1-0-0 mark in Abbotsford... Manitoba enters with a 5-1-0-0 mark in its last six games overall, and goaltenders Eddie Lack (5-4-0, 2.22, .919) and Tyler Weiman (5-2-1, 2.46, .908) have combined to allow only seven goals in the team's last five contests... Rookie Jordan Schroeder notched his first two-goal effort of the season on Nov. 19 at Rockford, Manitoba's most recent contest... Schroeder (3-7-10) ranks among the Moose scoring leaders along with fellow rookies Cody Hodgson (8-5-13) and Bill Sweatt (4-6-10), and second-year pro Sergei Shirokov (5-8-13)... Abbotsford is winless in three straight outings (0-2-0-1) on the heels of a season-best five-game winning streak from Nov. 6-13... Heat goaltender Leland Irving (10-5-0, 22.7, .910) has surrendered exactly two goals in each of his last six appearances... Matt Keith is pacing Abbotsford with nine goals (9-3-12) in 21 contests, and his 12 points are tied for the club lead with rookie and former first-round draft pick Greg Nemisz (6-6-12)... The Heat are tied for second in the AHL with five shorthanded goals.
A pair of three-game winning streaks is set to collide on Friday when West Division rivals Chicago and Peoria do battle for the first time this season... The Wolves are coming off a 3-0-0-0 homestand but have lost seven in a row away from Allstate Arena... Spencer Machacek has netted a goal in all three games of Chicago's current win streak (4-2-6), and goaltender Peter Mannino (4-3-0) earned the victory in all three contests... Wolves captain Jason Krog is on a four-game scoring streak (2-3-5), and his 19 points overall (4-15-19) are tied with Jared Ross (4-15-19) for the club lead... Andre Deveaux has recorded three goals and four points in his last two outings for Chicago... Peoria rookie goaltender Jake Allen (6-1-0) leads the AHL in goals-against average (1.35), save percentage (.959), and shutouts (3)... Overall, the Rivermen boast the league's top-ranked defense (2.15 goals allowed per game) and its third-best penalty kill on home ice (90.5 percent)... Peoria's David Spina has recorded five points (1-4-5) in six games since returning to the lineup from a four-game absence.
In-state rivals Bridgeport and Hartford meet in a home-and-home on Friday and again on Saturday, when the Wolf Pack will officially become the Connecticut Whale... Friday's contest marks the end of a five-game road swing for the Wolf Pack, who are 2-2-0-0 on the journey thus far... Hartford leading scorer Jeremy Williams (11-8-19) has racked up 7-3-10 in his last seven outings, including a pair of two-goal performances in that span... Former AHL All-Rookie forward Tim Kennedy is on a four-game scoring streak (1-4-5) for the Pack and has 1-9-10 in nine games since returning from injury... Bridgeport's Robin Figren has recorded five goals in his last nine games (5-2-7) on the heels of a nine-game goal-scoring drought... The Sound Tigers used a different goaltender in each of their first three clashes with the Wolf Pack (1-2-0-0); Rookie Kevin Poulin (5-3-0, 2.23, .929) made 28 saves in the team's lone victory, a 4-1 decision on Nov. 6.
