Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

It took a couple extra innings and waited through a rain delay for over an hour, but the Winnipeg Goldeyes finish their latest road trip with a win.

The Goldeyes (15-12) scored twice in the 11th inning to beat the Lincoln Saltdogs (12-15) 5-4 before 2,169 spectators at Haymarket Park Thursday night.

The win gives Winnipeg a split in the four-game series and leaves them with a 3-4 record on the road trip.

Wes Long drove in Kody Kaiser to give Winnipeg a 4-3 lead in the 11th and then Long scored on a Luis Alen single for the winning run.

Lincoln tied the game with two runs in the eighth inning, which forced extra innings. The pair of runs came following a 1:03 rain delay in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Winnipeg built a 3-0 lead with three runs in the third inning. Victor Ferrante scored from second on a sac bunt by Kaiser when Lincoln pitcher Lindsay Gulin made an error trying to throw out Kaiser at first. Long then drove in Price Kendall and Alen singled in Kaiser.

Goldeyes starting pitcher Ace Walker tossed 6.1 innings, only giving up a run, but is stuck with a no-decision.

Ian Thomas earns his team-leading fourth win by pitching the ninth and 10th innings, while Chad Benefield picks up his first professional save, as the Goldeyes used seven different pitchers in the game. PJ Zocchi takes the loss for the Saltdogs.

The Goldeyes return home to begin a six-game home stand Friday night against the Kansas City T-Bones. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and great seats are available by visiting any Ticketmaster location or by calling 1-855-GOLDEYE.
