SIOUX FALLS- The Sioux Falls Pheasants looked to bolster their starting pitching rotation with Friday's signing of Kyle Ruwe.

Ruwe, 28, begins his seventh season of professional baseball, all in independent baseball. The right-hander has amassed impressive career numbers with a 52-33 record and a lifetime 4.78 ERA. He has a career strikeout-to-walk ratio near 3:1 with 355 strikeouts.

Last season Ruwe was 6-9 with a 6.64 ERA as a member of the Rockford RiverHawks, a part of the now-defunct Northern League.

Ruwe is no stranger to the American Association. He spent his first three seasons with the Lincoln Saltdogs, appearing primarily as a reliever. Ruwe has worked exclusively as a starter in the last three seasons. He is slated to start for the Pheasants on Saturday, June 11, against Fargo-Moorhead.

The Pheasants' roster now stands at the league maximum of 22 players.

The Sioux Falls Pheasants begin a three-game series against division-rival Fargo-Moorhead at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at Sioux Falls Stadium.
