Goaltender Zaba Recalled To Hartford

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The New York Rangers of the National Hockey League have recalled Checkers goaltender, Matt Zaba and assigned him to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Zaba, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, signed with the New York Rangers during this year's off-season. The Yorkton, Saskatoon goaltender started the year with the Checkers and has played in five games compiling a record of 3-2 keeping a 3.94 goals against average with a .881 save percentage. He has been recalled to Hartford twice this season but has yet to play. He has served as backup in six contests with the Pack.

The Checkers began their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game takes place on Dec. 13 against the Gwinnett Gladiators. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers will enter their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena this fall. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $399.
