Fresno Falcons News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - John Morlang notched a hat trick leading the Fresno Falcons past the Bakersfield Condors 6-2 on Wednesday in front of 3,691 fans at Rabobank Arena. Fresno extends its overall winning streak to six games, and its road winning streak to five games, its longest such streak since joining the ECHL in 2003-04.
A five-goal outburst in the opening period gave Fresno a 5-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Morlang started the scoring with his third of the year at 4:27. Luke Curtin found Morlang wide open on the near post, and he redirected the shot past goaltender Jeff Pietrasiak.
Morlang doubled the lead with a 5-on-3 power-play goal at 6:50. Morlang gathered in a pass from Jarrett Konkle and beat Pietrasiak for his fourth of the season.
Fresno's power-play extended the lead to three just 29 seconds later. Tyler Kindle hit Mike Ramsay with a cross-crease pass, and Ramsay one-timed a shot into the net from the near post for his fifth of the year.
Josh Ciocco continued the onslaught at 10:19, skating wide on a Condor and walking to the top of the crease, sliding a shot into the net for his third of the season.
Brady Leisenring finished off the first-period explosion at 19:19, taking a cross-ice pass from Kenny Bernard and one timing a shot past Pietrasiak for his fifth of the year.
Bakersfield got on the scoreboard with a power-play goal 4:36 into the second period. Kevin Truelson skated into the Fresno zone and beat Jake Moreland with a quick snap shot from the top of the left-wing circle.
Morlang completed his hat trick at 7:37 of the third period, taking a feed from Curtin, deking goaltender Yutaka Fukufuji, and sliding a shot into the open net giving the Falcons a 6-1 lead.
The Condors got their second power-play goal of the night off the stick of Todd Griffith at 9:16 making it 6-2.
Fresno returns home on Friday, hosting the Victoria Salmon Kings at 7:30 p.m. The first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Freddie Falcon Disco Snow Globe courtesy of Carl's Jr., Mega 97.9, and KMPH Fox 26.
Tickets for all Falcons' home games can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (559) 485-TIXS or www.ticketmaster.com. All Falcons games air on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show 15 minutes prior to face off.
