NORTH CHARLESTON, SC - Playing the South Carolina Stingrays (22-18-1-6) for the tenth time in 2014-15, the Gladiators (16-27-2-1) were shutout Friday night, 3-0, for the second time this season at North Charleston Coliseum. Kent Patterson made 40 saves for the Gladiators, while his counterpart, Adam Morrison was a perfect 19-for-19.

South Carolina got the vast majority of their shots to Patterson in the first period, laying 21 shots on the Gwinnett netminder, the most the Gladiators have given up in a period this season. The only one to get by him in the first period was right after the Stingrays killed their first penalty of the night. As Tim Spencer left the box, South Carolina cleared the puck out of the zone. Wayne Simpson saucered a lead pass onto the unguarded Spencer, who beat Patterson through the legs on a breakaway at 15:01.

In the second frame, the Stingrays doubled up their lead when Marcus Perrier roofed a shot from the right of Patterson over his glovehand and underneath the crossbar at 5:20. The Stingrays again spent the majority of the period in the offensive zone, but only outshot Gwinnett 14-to-5 in the second.

Gwinnett played a much better third period, and had several significant opportunities, including two power plays, but were unable to beat Morrison. The only tally of the period was an empty net goal for South Carolina from Caleb Herbert at 19:23. The Gladiators were 0-for-4 on the power play, and the Stingrays were equally fruitless, going 0-for-3.

The final match of the Gwinnett-South Carolina three-game series this week will be on Saturday night at The Arena at Gwinnett Center for Pink in the Rink, Night 1 at 7:05 p.m.
