Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Mike Duco scored the game-winning goal on the power play at 2:44 of overtime to lift the Indy Fuel (19-22-4-3) over the Cincinnati Cyclones (21-20-1-4) by a 3-2 final score in front of 6,235 at U.S. Bank Arena on Friday night.

After nearly a full scoreless period of hockey, the Cyclones drew first blood using the power play. At the 18:18 mark, David Pacan tipped Josh McFadden's point shot past Shane Owen (W, 28 saves, 10-13-1) to make it 1-0. The home team carried the one-goal edge into the first intermission.

In a period with limited shots on net, the Indy man-advantage unit cashed in to pull even; at 11:48, Nicklas Lindberg took a shot that redirected off of skates in front and rolled past Rob Madore (L, 15 saves, 9-10-1-3) into the net, making it a 1-1 game. Neither side found the net again in the stanza and headed to the third period all square at one goal apiece.

The Fuel pulled out in front on a close call at the net just 7:01 into the third period when and Anders Franzon shot was deflected out of the air and into the net by Rhett Bly. While argument was made that it was hit with a high stick, which would have negated the lamplighter, the officials determined that it was a good goal - which pushed the Fuel ahead 2-1. The Cyclones would claw their way back in, though, when Chris Reed blasted home his career-high sixth goal of the season at 16:42 from a very sharp angle. Reed's strike tied the game at two and forced the tilt into the extra session.

Unfortunately, just 1:18 into overtime, Pacan was assessed a double minor for high sticking and set up Indy's fourth power play of the night, a four-on-three advantage. While the Cyclones were able to kill of the opening minute of the infraction, Kyle Stroh would set up Mike Duco at the side of the net for the game-winning goal at 2:44 to give the Fuel a 3-2 victory.

The same two teams reunite tomorrow in Downtown Indianapolis for a Valentines Day tilt at 7:35pm. Fans can hear all the action of the game on the Cyclones Radio Network beginning at 7:15pm and WATCH live at the Game Time Sports Bar and Grill in Cheviot for the Coors Light Viewing Party!
