Morrison and Spencer Push Stingrays Past Gladiators

North Charleston, S.C. - Goaltender Adam Morrison stopped 19 shots for his third shutout of the season and forward Tim Spencer scored a goal and an assist to launch the South Carolina Stingrays (22-18-1-6) over the Gwinnett Gladiators (16-27-2-1) 3-0 at the North Charleston Coliseum Tuesday evening. The win sends the Stingrays' winning streak to four contests.

The Stingrays fired a season-high 21 shots in the first period and Spencer kicked off the scoring late in the frame, burying a breakaway goal between the legs of Gladiators goaltender Kent Patterson (L, 40 saves on 42 shots) at 15:01. Forward Wayne Simpson picked up the lone assist.

Defenseman Marcus Perrier made it 2-0 at 5:20 of the middle stanza catching a pass from forward Rob Bellamy at the left-wing circle and blasting a shot over the blocker of Patterson. Spencer picked up the second assist.

Forward Caleb Herbert sealed the victory with an empty-net marker with 37 seconds remaining in the contest with help from Simpson and forward Rob Ricci. The Stingrays finished the game 0-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators went 0-for-4.

The Stingrays and Gladiators complete a home-and-home weekend series tomorrow, Saturday, February 14 at 7:05 the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia.
