
Gladiators Beat Everblades 3-2

Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators pushed their South Division lead back to 10 points with a 3-2 win over the Florida Everblades on Friday night. Jeff Campbell had a pair of goals in the win to help Gwinnett improve to 34-11-5 on the season.
The Gladiators and Everblades skated to a scoreless tie through the opening period. Both teams had chances including time on the power play, but Adam Berkhoel had 7 first period saves for Gwinnett while kevin Nastiuk made 11 for the Everblades in the opening stanza.
Florida broke the scoreless tie 1:55 into the second period on a goal by Daniel Sisca. Dustin Johner fed Sisca along the goal line where Sisca jammed the puck past Berkhoel for the goal. Ernie Hartlieb also had an assist on the tally.
Jeff Campbell's first goal of the second period tied the game at one, 7:02 into the second period. Campbell took a rink wide pass from Milan Gajic and ripped a snap shot off the cross bar and and past Nastiuk for his 23rd goal of the year. Rick Emmett also picked up an assist on the tally.
Campbell's second of the period at the 9:40 mark of the middle stanza pushed the Gladiators into the lead. The unassisted goal came short handed for the Gladiators as Campbell stripped the puck from an Everblades defenseman to set up the goal.
Derek Nesbitt's rebound goal at the 13:33 mark of the second period proved to be the game winner for the Gladiators. Nesbitt corralled the bouncing puck in the slot and ripped the puck past Nastiuk fot his 20th goal of the year. Adam Smyth and Gajic posted the assists on the tally.
Florida got within a goal 7:15 into the third period as Kevin Bergin finished a 3-on-2 break with the tally. Reggie Berg and Hartlieb connected to pick up the helpers but the Everblades could get no closer.
Florida pulled Nastiuk in the waining moments but Gwinnett buckeled down defensively as the Everblades finished with just 21 shots in the loss. The power play did not play a factor in the contest as both teams were held off the boardon the man advantage.
