Sniper Chiefs Win in Trenton

February 17, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Johnstown Chiefs News Release

The Johnstown Chiefs have learned to take advantage of opportunities.

Despite registering just four shots in the second period and only three more in the third, the Chiefs picked up a big road win, beating Trenton, 4-3.

Trenton jumped out 2-0 in the first five minutes, on goals by Jim Henkel and Kiel Mcleod. Brett Peterson surprised Trenton goalie, Rejean Beauchemin with a wrister at 12:15 of the first period, to pull the Chiefs within one, 2-1.

Dmitri Tarabrin and Adam Henrich struck in the second period. Tarabrin buried a Henrich rebound at 12:05, then finished a 2-on-1 from Henrich just 1:55 later.

Tied at 3 in the third period, Steve Cygan deflected a Joe Tallari shot, fired a shot from the right circle, for the eventual game winner.

Chiefs defenceman, Brad Sullivan picked up his first career assist on Tarabrin's second goal.

Morgan Cey stopped 39 shots in the win, including a spectacular diving save against Titan forward Mark Lee in the third period. Cey dove to his left, nullifying the Trenton 2-on-1.

The Johnstown Chiefs 2005-06 season continues Saturday in Trenton, before they return home against Wheeling on Sunday at 3pm. Sunday is Heluva Good Quality Foods Kids Day. Kids tickets are free with the purchase of an adult ticket. Tickets are available by calling 1-800-SLAPSHOT or by visiting www.ticketmaster.com.
