San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO - Several San Diego Gulls will be cooling down as a warm-up for their 15th annual Tip-A-Gull event when they host the third annual "Dunk-A-Gull" night, THIS MONDAY at Dick's Last Resort in downtown San Diego. The event will give fans a chance to soak their favorite Gulls players in a dunk tank with proceeds benefiting United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. fans will have a chance to dunk several of their favorite Gulls players and coaches. Dunk tank balls can be purchased for $2 each or three for $5. Fans will be given a raffle ticket with each ball purchased and can win free gift certificates to be used for the Gulls' 15th annual "Tip-A-Gull" night on March 5, also held at Dick's Last Resort.
All proceeds will benefit United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County. UCP is recognized as one of the largest and most efficient health charities in America, and its affiliate in San Diego spends approximately 84 percent of its total income on community programs and services.
Last season the Gulls helped raise a record total of $37,000 for UCP with both their "Dunk-A-Gull" and "Tip-A-Gull" events. That eclipsed the previous record in 2004, when $31,500 was raised.
"The San Diego Gulls continue to make a strong tradition of community support a top priority," David Carucci, executive director of UCP of San Diego County said. "The list of organizations they assist every year is a long one and we are most thankful that it includes a special effort when it comes to UCP.
"We are pleased and proud to partner with the team and appreciate their long-time support of our disabled friends and neighbors and their families throughout San Diego County."
Dick's Last Resort is located at 345 4th Ave in downtown San Diego. For directions, call 619-231-9100.
