March 18, 2004 - ECHL (ECHL)
Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that the first annual Gladiators Jersey Auction for Charity raised $16,600. The proceeds from the auction will be donated to several local children's charities through the Gladiators Foundation.
The 2003-04 Jersey Auction theme was dedicated to the upcoming St. Patrick's Day holiday. The Gladiators wore special green shamrock adorned St. Patrick's themed Jerseys for their Friday, March 12th game against Pensacola and their Saturday, March 13th game against Greensboro.
Following Saturday's game, the Gladiators auctioned off the jerseys to benefit local area charities. All of the proceeds raised will benefit charities that provide services and programs for children of Gwinnett and surrounding counties.
"We are very proud of the success of the jersey auction," said Gladiators General Manager Steve Chapman. "The reaction from the fans to the jerseys was strong and the auction was pretty spirited. The money that was raised will do a lot of good for some very deserving charities. We want to thank everyone that participated in a good time for a good cause."
All of the Gladiators jerseys sold for well over the original $250.00 asking price. Rookie forward Kevin Doell's jersey went for $1,250 alone while Brandon Dietrich's #10 went for $1,050. In addition, three different jerseys were auctioned off for $1,000 apiece.
The Gladiators are back in action on Friday when the host the Florence Pride at 7:35 p.m. See Scooby Doo at the game presented by Comcast Cable and Cartoon Network.
