
Ice Pilots clip the 'Catters

Beaumont, TX (March 18, 2004) - The Texas Wildcatters hosted Pensacola Thursday night for their sixth of seven meetings at Ford Arena this season, falling 2-1 to the Ice Pilots. Kent Sauer opened up the scoring for the Ice Pilots at the 6:03 mark of the opening period as he recorded his third goal of the season. The lone goal of the period was assisted by Brian Collins and Jean-Francois Soucy. Wildcatters' netminder Davis Parley ended the period with 15 saves.
Wildcatters' left wing Martin Masa tied the game at one at the 9:41 mark of the second period as he took a beautiful back-door pass from leading point man Cory Morgan. Czech mate Lukas Smital was credited with the second assist on the power-play goal, Masa's 20th of the season. Pensacola would answer back with 21 seconds left in the second period as Aaron Phillips knocked in a Dwayne Hay rebound to tally his 19th goal of the year. Parley turned away 16 of the 17 shots he faced in the middle stanza.
The teams combined for 21 shots in a scoreless period as Brian Eklund earned his 33rd win of the season. Parley suffered the loss, ending with 40 saves.
