ECHL Hands Down Suspensions, Fines To Coaches

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced on Thursday that Mississippi coach Bob Woods and San Diego coach Steve Martinson have each been suspended for five games and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of administrative violations of the ECHL Salary Cap.

The ECHL is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the Salary Cap to ensure compliance and to protect the interests of all ECHL Members. Monitoring is conducted on an ongoing basis and sanctions are handed down from time to time. Sanctions are made public only in those instances where coaches, executives or employees are suspended.

Woods will miss Mississippi's games at Louisiana (Mar. 19), at Texas (Mar. 20), at Texas (Mar. 21), vs. Louisiana (Mar. 26) and vs. Columbus (Mar. 28).

Martinson will miss San Diego's games vs. Fresno (Mar. 19), at Fresno (Mar. 20), vs. Bakersfield (Mar. 21), vs. Long Beach (Mar. 23) and at Idaho (Mar. 26).

No further comment will be made by the ECHL on the suspensions.
