The Checkers are coming down the stretch of the 2003-04 season and there is lots happening! The club is fighting for a playoff spot and will contend with several of its divisional rivals over the next couple of weeks. CHECKERS ICE CHIPS - The Checkers made a major trade on Tuesday as they sent defenseman Nick Bilotto to the Las Vegas Wranglers for center Kevin O'Flaherty. O'Flaherty is a rookie out of Clarkson University who played in 32 games with Las Vegas with four goals, 11 assists for 15 points and 24 penalty minutes. The Oakville, Ontario native is scheduled to join the Checkers in time for their game Friday at Augusta. "O'Flaherty will remind our fans a lot of Chad Spurr who played here two seasons ago," commented Wilkinson. "Kevin is a defensive forward but he has the knack to score points too." O'Flaherty played for three seasons at Clarkson with David Evans, who enjoyed a successful rookie season with the Checkers in 2002-03 before deciding to retire.

Bilotto is currently on loan to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League where he has been impressive since arriving there on February 12. Bilotto has played in 15 games with the Falcons with three goals and seven assists for 10 points and 26 penalty minutes. In 49 games with the Checkers this season, Nick posted seven goals, 21 assists for 28 points and 66 penalty minutes. Bilotto has played for the Checkers for the past three seasons, including brief stints in the AHL the past two seasons.

The Checkers received some good news Tuesday when Steve MacIntyre was assigned to the Checkers from Hartford. Charlotte also released forward A.J. Walker.

 This is the final game of the season where season ticket holders may exchange their unused tickets. Invite some friends to the game using your unused season tickets and see the Checkers battle the Florida Everblades in an important Southern Division contest with playoff implications.

CHECKERS "ONLINE" JERSEY AUCTION CONTINUES - The Checkers / Rangers style jerseys are being auctioned off on the Checkers web site at www.gocheckers.com. Konrad McKay's jersey will only be on the auction block for one more day. All other jersey online auctions will continue until March 26 & March 27




SEASON TICKET HOLDER PARTY DATE CHANGE - Due to the need to reschedule the February 26 game at Greensboro that was postponed due to snow, the Checkers Season Ticket Holder Party with the players has been moved to Monday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Jock's & Jill's. Season Ticket Holders are invited to come and enjoy some refreshments and an evening of great conversation with the players.


SEASON TICKET HOLDER JERSEYS – Renew your Checkers season tickets with a $25.00 deposit and receive a special Checkers "Season Ticket Holder Only" jersey. CHARLOTTE CHECKERS CHARITY GOLF CLASSIC – The Checkers 2nd Annual Charity Golf Classic will be held on Tuesday March 30th at Pine Lake Country Club. Each team will be paired with a current Checkers player, coach, or former player. Both teams and single entries are still available, but limited.
