Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Omaha Storm Chasers stranded 14 runners on Saturday night including the bases loaded three times, in a 6-3 loss to the Columbus Clippers.

Tyler Gentry carried the Storm Chasers offense all night long, as the right fielder scored all three of Omaha's runs and finished the game 4-for-4 with a walk, reaching base in all five of his plate appearances.

Omaha struck first for the fourth straight game, as Gentry opened the scoring in the top of the second with a solo home run, his 10th long ball of the season.

While starter Anthony Veneziano retired his first six batters of the game, three straight Clippers hits reached to open the bottom of the third, capped by a three-run home run and Columbus led the rest of the night.

After Gentry drew a one-out walk in the top of the fourth, Omaha loaded the bases and Angelo Castellano drew a walk to score Gentry and bring the Chasers within one.

Omaha trailed by a run into the sixth inning but another home run off of Veneziano, a two-run shot, extended the lead for the Clippers and ended Veneziano's night.

Walter Pennington followed Veneziano and allowed a pair of hits to open his outing and Columbus tacked on another run.

Behind Pennington, Steven Cruz worked out of trouble and retired all four batters he faced, including a 1-2-3 seventh inning. Jonah Dipoto pitched a perfect eighth and Omaha's bullpen combined to retire the final eight Clippers hitters of the evening.

After Castellano's walk in the fourth, Omaha left the bases loaded, then proceeded to do so again in the sixth and eighth innings, as the Chasers outhit Columbus 11 to 8 and drew five walks as well.

Gentry singled in the fifth and seventh innings, then opened the top of the ninth with a double, then came around to score on a pair of groundouts as Adeiny Hechavarria drove him in for the third and final run of the game.

Nate Eaton also contributed two hits out of the leadoff spot, while Major League rehabber Matt Beaty offered his second straight two-hit game.

Omaha will try again to claim a series win Sunday at 3:05 p.m. CT with right-hander Jonathan Bowlan headed to the mound at Huntington Park.Chasers
