Matchup:
The Solar Bears and Reading Royals come together tonight for the first matchup between the two teams this season. Orlando comes into the contest riding a two game winning streak, beginning with a 5-3 victory over the Evansville IceMen and continuing with a 5-4 comeback win over Evansville on Saturday. In that contest, the Solar Bears struck for the first goal of the game, only to see Evansville counter before the end of the first and then score in the first minute of the second to take a 2-1 lead. The Solar Bears quickly knotted up the score when D Connor Goggin potted his second of the night, but two goals in less than a minute from the IceMen saw them grab a 4-2 lead before the midway point of the second period. F Taylor Matson and F Jacob Cepis both scored for Orlando before the middle frame came to a close, and then Cepis picked up his second goal of the game with a slap shot in early in the third period to complete the comeback as Orlando won 5-4. The Royals have taken victories in four of their last five games, cruising to 4-1 and 6-1 wins over the Elmira Jackals on Friday and Saturday. Reading currently sits in the top spot in the ECHL Eastern Conference, just three points ahead of the Orlando Solar Bears. Orlando can clinch a spot in the 2014 ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs tonight by earning at least one point, or if the Fort Wayne Komets lose in regulation, or if the Florida Everblades lose in regulation, overtime, or a shootout .
