LAST NIGHT: The Indians won their second game in a row last night in a high-scoring battle with Louisville, 13-10. Facing a 3-0 deficit after the top of the first inning, Indianapolis scored six runs in the fourth inning and never relinquished the lead. Phillip Evans led off the inning with a double as the first of six consecutive batters to reach base safely. Bligh Madris drove Evans in with an RBI single and with the bases loaded, Jared Oliva hit a sharp single off third baseman Alejo Lopez's glove to tie the game. The lead was handed to the Indians on two fielding errors by Bats' first baseman Alex Blandino, and Evans drove in the sixth run with a sacrifice fly as Indy batted around the order. An inside-the-park home run by Mike Freeman inched Louisville closer in the fifth, but the Indians scored four runs in the seventh inning and three in the eighth to take an insurmountable lead. Louisville scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to inch closer to the Indians lead but couldn't overcome the big innings from Indianapolis.

PAUL'S POWER TO RIGHT: Ethan Paul set a new career high with four RBI last night against Louisville. His previous high was three RBI (July 18, 2019 with Short-Season A West Virginia at State College, Aug. 8, 2021 at Iowa), and together those are his only three career multi-RBI contests. With a 7-4 lead and the bases loaded in the seventh inning, Paul roped a double into the right-field corner to clear the bases and give his team double-digit runs for the first time since Aug. 7 at Iowa.

OLIVA'S GOT IT: Jared Oliva tied his career high with five RBI last night against Louisville (also: July 13, 2019 at Double-A Erie). He went 3-for-3, all singles, to lead the team in hits. His second single of the night tied the game in the fourth inning when, with the bases loaded, he sent a sharp ground ball off third baseman Alejo Lopez's glove. Oliva then walked with the bases loaded in the seventh inning to drive in another run before hitting a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth. It was his first three-hit game since Aug. 10, 2019 vs. Double-A Reading, which was his seventh such performance that season.

DOUBLE DOSE OF DOUBLES: For the second time this season, Phillip Evans hit two doubles in a game with Indianapolis. Both of those games came at Victory Field (also: June 5 vs. Columbus). The two-hit performance was his first since Aug. 10 vs. St. Paul, his first appearance with Indy after being outrighted, and it was his first double since Aug. 14. In his career, Evans has recorded a pair of doubles in 13 games.

TODAY: The Indians will look to send Louisville packing with a series split today at 1:35 PM ET at Victory Field. Louisville currently leads the season series, seven games to four, after going 4-2 over the first six games from June 22-27. The Indians haven't finished below .500 against the Bats in the season series since 2016 and will have to win five of the remaining seven games between the two teams to continue that streak. In a rematch of Tuesday night's contest, RHP James Marvel will face off against RHP Michael Mariot. Marvel came out of the bullpen in a piggyback start with LHP Sam Howard on Tuesday and took the loss as he surrendered three runs in 5.0 innings. Mariot, on the other hand, earned the win as he gave up just three hits in 5.0 scoreless innings. The Indians scored two runs late in the game to tighten the contest, but Louisville escaped with its first win of the series.

MARVELOUS CONSISTENCY: James Marvel continued his streak of consistent outings for the Indians on Tuesday, allowing no more than three earned runs over 5.0-or-more innings for the 13th time this season. He has been one of the most consistent starters by innings pitched for the Indians this season, tossing at least five innings in 14 of his 19 outings. Marvel had the same consistency in his length of starts as Pittsburgh's Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2019, with eight of his 11 starts lasting 5.0-or-more innings. He allowed two runs or less in seven of those starts.

SPLITTING THE SERIES DOWN THE MIDDLE: Prior to this week, the Indians had dropped the first three games in three of four series dating back to July 27-Aug. 1 at St. Paul. When facing a 3-0 deficit in a series in that time frame, they have escaped with either a split or better twice. At St. Paul, the Indians bounced back and won the final three games while outhitting the Saints, 35-28, with seven home runs. The next week in a seven-game series at Iowa, the Indians won the last four games of the series behind 14 home runs for their first series win in nearly two months.

STATE OF THE ROSTER: Sixty-six different players have now appeared for Indianapolis, which ties the 2019 total with 30 games still to be played this season. Of the 66, 34 pitchers, five catchers, 16 infielders and 11 outfielders have appeared in an Indians uniform, with a handful of those coming on major league rehab assignments. Twelve members of the Indians Opening Day roster are currently active on the team, but only half of those have spent the entire season on Indy's roster while staying healthy.

HOME: After beginning the season with a 16-5 record at Victory Field this season, the Indians have gone 9-17 over their last 26 home contests. They won their first three home series vs. Toledo (five games to one, May 11-16), Columbus (4-2, June 1-6) and Memphis (5-1, June 15-20) but have already guaranteed a series split, at best, for their fifth home series in a row this week.
