Former Rookie of the Year Sterling Re-Joins Wolves

The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned left wing BRETT STERLING to the Chicago Wolves.

The 24-year-old forward has appeared in three games with the Thrashers this season, collecting a goal in his season debut against Detroit on Oct. 24. Overall, STERLING has notched four points (2G, 2A) in 16 contests with Atlanta during parts of two seasons (2007-2008).

The Los Angeles native appeared in 70 games with the Wolves last season, recording 38 goals, 33 assists and 71 points. His 38 markers ranked second on the squad and shared second in the American Hockey League. STERLING also added four goals, nine points and 18 penalty minutes in 16 Calder Cup playoff games en route to helping Chicago capture its fourth league title.

The two-time AHL all-star received the Dudley "Red" Garrett Award as the AHL's top rookie in 2006-07 after leading the league with 55 goals and finishing fourth overall with 97 points in 77 games for the Wolves. He was named to the AHL's First All-Star Team, All-Rookie Team and earned MVP honors in the 2007 AHL All-Star Classic that year. Overall, he has tallied 93 goals, 75 assists and 168 points in 147 career AHL regular-season contests and 11 goals, 10 assists and 21 points in 31 Calder Cup playoff matchups, spanning two seasons with Chicago.

The Wolves (7-2-1-1) begin a season-high six game road trip with a pair of weekend tilts against Atlantic Division opponents. They visit the Providence Bruins tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center at 6 p.m., and then take on the Manchester Monarchs on Sun., Nov. 9, at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 3 p.m.
