WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - Penguins' goalie Adam Berkhoel made 26 saves as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton shutout the Lowell Devils, 4-0, on Friday night at the Wachovia Center at Casey Plaza. It was the second times in as many games against the Penguins this season that the Devils failed to score a goal. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, however, exploded for four goals over a stretch of 7:49 in opening period to muster all of the game's offense.

Chris Minard opened the scoring with a pair of power play goals in the first six minutes of the contest. After Vladimir Zharkov exited the ice for hooking, Minard was left alone at 2:57 on the far post and put back the rebound from Dave Caruso's pad save on Reid Cashman's snapshot. Janne Pesonen then found Minard in the crease less than three minutes later for a tap-in through the five-hole of the Devils' goaltender.

The Penguins continued their torrid pace at 9:02 as Ryan Stone capped off a 3-on-2 rush with a one-timer from the high slot off of a pass by Luca Caputi. Just 44 seconds later, it was Tim Wallace making the score 4-0 and chasing Caruso from the game thanks to a wraparound shot from the near iron.

Jeff Frazee came into the game in relief for his second pro appearance and was perfect over the remaining 50:11 of play. The rookie goaltender stopped all 23 shots against, but the Devils could not find their offense against Berkhoel and the Penguins defense.

Lowell finished the contest 0-for-8 on the man-advantage and 4-for-6 on the penalty kill.
