Food Drive & Teddy Bear Toss Big Successes
December 19, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Bridgeport Islanders News Release
BRIDGEPORT, CT - The American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, raised $670 in donations and Booster Club Chuck-A-Puck proceeds and filled a van with non-perishable food items during this past Friday's holiday food drive. The money and food items will benefit the Connecticut Food Bank. The Sound Tigers also collected over 300 stuffed animals during this past Sunday's "Teddy Bear Toss". All of the animals will be distributed to needy children throughout the area as part of American Medical Response's "Teddy Bear Run" this Friday, December the 23rd.
The food drive was held during this past Friday's 5-2 home win over the Lowell Lock Monsters at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. The "Teddy Bear Toss" took place when the Sound Tigers scored their first goal in this past Sunday's home game versus the Norfolk Admirals.
The Sound Tigers will play the middle contests of a four-game homestand when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. and the Hartford Wolf Pack this Friday at 7:35 p.m. Information about Sound Tigers ticket packages and promotions is available by calling 203-334-GOAL or emailing info@soundtigers.com.
