The Stars and Admirals meet for the fifth time this season on Friday night. Friday night, the first 3,000 fans 'through the turnstiles' receive an Inaugural Season Holiday Ornament. Also on Friday from 6-7 PM is the new Budweiser Happy Hour in the Bud Zone at Wells Fargo Arena--- The Ads are coming off a 5-4 victory over the Cleveland Barons Sunday in Milwaukee. Libor Pivko led the charge with three assists. Milwaukee hosts Grand Rapids on Wednesday night, before coming to Iowa--- Darren Haydar leads the Ads with 28 points, including a team-high 13 goals. He is averaging a point per game--- The Admirals are 19-7-1-1, just four points behind the first-place Houston Aeros. The Ads are 7-2-1 in their last 10 games.

The Peoria Rivermen snapped a six-game losing streak on Sunday with a 5-4 shootout win over Chicago. Goalie Patrick Lalime made 44 saves in his first career AHL win. Lalime had been with the NHL's St. Louis Blues, but cleared waivers last week and was assigned to Peoria--- The Rivermen have an open schedule for the remainder of the week before they play in Des Moines on Monday, December 26th--- With a six point weekend by the Stars, Iowa has pulled to within three points of Peoria and has a gamein- hand on them--- Peter Sejna continues to lead the Rivermen in points. In 27 games, he has 15 goals and 22 assists, including 11 power-play goals. He is averaging 1.37 points per game, however Mike Glumac is the one that paces the club with a ‘plus 10' rating.

The Houston Aeros lead the West Division with 44 points, garnering a record of 21-8-1- 1. They are 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games, including a three-game winning streak. Houston is the only team in the West Division and one of eight teams in the League to have posted over 100 goals. Their 110 goals ranks them third in the 27-team AHL--- They are the third ranked team in the AHL--- Erik Westrum paces the AHL with 42 points, via 13 goals and 29 assists. Kirby Law is ranked second with 40 points, including 17 assists--- They host Omaha on Friday and San Antonio on Monday before playing Iowa on Wednesday the 28th.

- Dan Ellis appeared in all three games for the Stars this weekend, earning a 4-1 win on Friday, a 3-1 win on Saturday and a 3-1 win on Sunday. Friday against Chicago, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native shutdown the surging Chicago Wolves, 4-1. Ellis denied Chicago on 10 of their 11 power-play chances. He stopped 37 of 38 shots, including 15 in the second and all 14 in the third period. Saturday night in Omaha at the rink where he played his college hockey, the 25-year old netminder allowed just one goal on 34 shots, including 21 over the last two periods. Sunday, in the second game of a home-in-home series with Omaha, the 2000 second round selection by the Dallas Stars made 23 saves and allowed just one goal, a 5-on-3 power-play goal. Ellis played the three-inthree weekend, stopping 93 of 96 shots, posting a 1.00 Goals Against Average and a .969 Save Percentage. These three wins vaulted him into sixth place with an overall save percentage of .923. His Goals Against Average is now 2.47, 11th overall and his overall record improved to 8-5.

- Yared Hagos scored Iowa's fourth shorthanded goal of the season on December 16th.

- Sunday's win was the Stars fourth-in-a-row, their fourth consecutive against Omaha, and capped a three-in-three weekend that saw Iowa outscore their opponents, 10-3. Sunday's win tied a franchise record for consecutive wins, while also improving their record to 4-3 against Omaha.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars registered a 4-1 win over the visiting Chicago Wolves Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. The win pushed the Stars record against the Wolves to 4-0. Yared Hagos scored Iowa's fourth shorthanded goal of the season. Stars goalie Dan Ellis made 37 saves and was named the Number Two Star of the Game.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars earned a 3-1 victory over the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights Saturday night in Nebraska. The victory pushed the Stars record to 13-12-1-1 overall and 6-5 away from Wells Fargo Arena. Left winger Mathias Tjarnqvist netted his sixth goal of the season at 9:28 of the second period, tying the game at one. Tjarnqvist's 5-on-3 goal was his sixth goal in seven games. The Swedish-born winger has six goals and one assist this season: 7(6/1/7). Just over six minutes later, Yan Stastny extended his point-streak to three games when he scored his seventh goal of the season. The eventual game-wining goal was his third such goal of the season. Saturday Night Fever: Iowa's record on Saturday night is now 7-2-0-1, including a 4-1 mark on the road.
