Springfield Falcons News Release

SPRINGFIELD- The Springfield Falcons are truly in the holiday spirit. And they are demonstrating that spirit through efforts to make this festive season brighter for those served by the programs at Brightside.

Last week, representatives of the Falcons delivered gifts to Brightside for Families and Children in West Springfield. The gifts were purchased with money that would have been used for a holiday party for members of the Falcons organization and their families. "Services and programs at Brightside target the community's most vulnerable children and adolescents," says Bruce Landon, President and General Manager of the Springfield Falcons. "And we are grateful for the opportunity to help further that vital mission."

Two players on the Springfield Falcons AHL hockey team will staff the Brightside Angel booth at the Holyoke Mall at Ingleside Monday, December 19th, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Players #37 Gerald Coleman and #8 Jason Jaspers and team mascot "Screech" will greet fans and sell holiday gifts at the booth, located in front of Target.

"The mission at Brightside calls us to assist children and adolescents who face incredible obstacles, and provide them with the resources to reach their fullest potential," says Karl Wiggins, Vice President of Residential Services at Brightside for Families and Children. "The Brightside Angel Campaign helps ease the financial challenge of making that outcome a reality for the more than 5000 children and families who receive assistance from Brightside every year."

Brightside Angel booths are open at Eastfield Mall, Tower Square in Springfield, and Holyoke Mall at Ingleside through December 24th. The booths feature a wide variety of angel-themed products, including "Heavenly Bear" teddy bears, ornaments, travel mugs, candles and pins.

All proceeds from the Brightside Angel Campaign directly benefit children and adolescents through programs and services at Brightside for Families and Children in West Springfield.
