
Flames Sign Forwards Bill Arnold and Johnny Gaudreau

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Flames announced today that they have signed forwards Bill Arnold and Johnny Gaudreau from Boston College to entry level contracts following the conclusion of their NCAA careers.

"Bill is a solid two-way player with good offensive instincts combined with power and grit. Congratulations to Johnny on capping off an amazing college season with the Hobey Baker Award, a very well deserved achievement. Johnny is a gifted player with high end skill and smarts. Arnold, a native of Needham, MA, just completed his senior year at Boston College finishing tied for second in NCAA assists (39) and tied for fifth in points (53) while setting a career high in each category. Arnold averaged .91 points per game during his college career finishing with 58 goals and 86 assists for 144 points and 175 penalty minutes in 159 career games. He helped capture the NCAA National Championship with the Eagles in 2012 during his sophomore year.
Contract terms: Two-year entry level two-way contract commencing immediately with an annual NHL base salary of $810,000, a signing bonus of $90,000 each year and an Average Annual Value of $900,000.
Gaudreau, a native of Carneys Point, NJ, just concluded his junior year at Boston College. He led the NCAA in goals (36), assists (44), points (80) and was the recipient of the Hobey Baker Award as the top college player in the NCAA. In his sophomore season, Gaudreau led the nation in points per game at 1.46, was named Hockey East Player of the Year, named an ACHA First Team All-American, a Hobey Baker finalist and helped Team USA win the 2013 World Junior Championship. As a freshman, Gaudreau was the MVP of the Hockey East Championship, was the Beanpot Most Valuable Player and played an integral role with Boston College capturing the 2012 NCAA National Championship.
Contract terms: Three year entry level two-way contract commencing immediately with an annual NHL base salary of $832,500, a signing bonus of $92,500 each year and an Average Annual Value of $1,850,000 incorporating performance bonuses .
