Wings Recall Mrazek from Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday recalled goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Grand Rapids Griffins.

A native of Ostrava, Czech Republic, Mrazek leads all AHL goaltenders with a 2.07 goals against average, while owning a 0.925 save percentage and a 22-8-1 record through 31 appearances this season. On Thursday, he was named to the 2013-14 AHL Second All-Star Team along with Griffins defenseman Adam Almquist .

Mrazek, 22, has earned three AHL shutouts this season, in addition to his first NHL shutout for the Red Wings via a 14-save performance on Nov. 2 versus the Edmonton Oilers. Detroit's fifth choice (141st overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Mrazek has played in eight games with the Wings this season, posting a 2.01 GAA, a 0.916 save percentage and a 1-4-0 record.

The Wings will host the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at 7:30 p.m., when Mrazek will be available to play.

After being shut out 3-0 by the Charlotte Checkers on Thursday, the Griffins will have a rematch with Charlotte at The Time Warner Cable Arena on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
