Aberdeen IronBirds News Release
Aberdeen, Md. - Northern Safety Co., Inc. and the Aberdeen IronBirds are again collaborating to hold the fourth First Responder Night of the summer, this time saying "Thank You" to local Military servicemembers during the Class-A minor league baseball team's game Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium.
Northern Safety, a Utica, N.Y.-based national distributor of top quality safety and industrial supplies, have joined the IronBirds this summer to honor Police, Fire, EMS and Military servicemembers during four separate IronBirds games. During each of the four First Responder Nights, first responders are recognized throughout the game with a pre-game ceremony, honorary first pitch, national anthem and more. Northern Safety will also be supporting local first responders with gift bags each night.
"In appreciation of their service to our country and their communities, Northern Safety couldn't be happier to help ensure a fun night for first responders at the ballpark," said Sal Longo, founder and CEO of Northern Safety & Industrial. "At Northern Safety, we're committed to delivering a message of safety and no one does that better every day than our first responders."
Northern Safety and the IronBirds teamed up to honor local Police, Fire and EMS officials at First Responder Nights on July 10, July 17 and July 24 respectively. The final First Responder Night of the summer will honor Military servicemembers on August 6 when the IronBirds take on the Tri-City Valley Cats.
The Aberdeen IronBirds are the Baltimore Orioles' Class-A New York-Penn League short season affiliate. The team and its 6,300-seat stadium, Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium, is owned by the city of Aberdeen and maintained by Ripken Baseball, which represents the business interests of Cal Ripken, Jr. and his brother Bill Ripken.
Cal Ripken, Jr., a former Baltimore Orioles shortstop and Major League Baseball Hall of Famer, became the spokesman for Northern Safety & Industrial in 2013. Since then, Ripken has become the face of the company's Cal Ripken, Jr. Signature Series line of products, including safety eyewear and gloves. He also serves as the face of a series of safety videos, released monthly by Northern Safety.
