Fields named ECHL Goalie of the Week for December 26th through 31st

The ECHL announced today that Gladiators goaltender Sean Fields has been named the ECHL goaltender of the week for December 26th through December 31st as he went 3-0-0 helping the Gladiators move into a tie for first place in the ECHL South Division.

Fields won all three games on the road posting a 3-2 win for the Gladiators on December 26th making 31 saves for Gwinnett. He posted back to back wins over the Florida Everblades on December 30th and 31st.

The Edmonton, Alberta native made 35 saves including 11 in the third period to help the Gladiators beat the Everblades 5-4 in overtime on Friday. The win ended Florida's ECHL season-high and team record winning streak at 12 games. The netminder then made 32 saves for the Gladiators in a 5-2 win on Saturday night to push the Gladiators season best winning streak to five games.

Fields was named an ECHL Saver of the Week for the week of March 7th through the 14th during his rookie season last year. He finished last season with a 21-7-2 record with a shutout, a goals against average of 2.48 and a save percentage of .913 in 31 games for the Gladiators.

In four seasons at Boston University, Fields was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 2002-03 and 2003-04 and set numerous records including wins (62), saves (3066) and minutes (7308). Fields is the only player in history to win the Eberly Trophy for outstanding goaltender and the MVP award in back-to-back Beanpot Tournaments (2003 and 2004).

The Gwinnett Gladiators continue the 2005-06 ECHL season on the road on Friday, January 6th as they travel to Pensacola to take on the Ice Pilots at 8:05 p.m. The Gladiators offer several ticket packages for different needs as well as group outings, suites and birthday parties.
