South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Likit Andersson from the Stockton Thunder for an undisclosed amount of cash.

Anderssson has spent 16 games with the Thunder this season and has two goals and six assists for eight points. Andersson has spent the majority of his ECHL career with the Augusta Lynx. In the 2001 season, the defenseman had 44 points on eight goals and 36 assists.

"Likit is a defenseman that can help out in the offensive zone," commented Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons. "He has great experience and should be able to step in and improve our team right away."

The Rays waived defenseman Steve Lecuyer to make room for Andersson. Lecuyer played in nine games with the Rays after being claimed off waivers and did not register a point.

The Stingrays will play at home on Friday night against the Greenville Grrrowl before traveling to Augusta on Saturday. The Rays will host the Pensacola Ice Pilots for a special 10:30 AM game on Tuesday, January 10th.
