Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - Shaun Sutter, Jason Weaver and Dan Tessier all scored and goaltender Brett Jaeger made 36 saves to help lead the Fresno Falcons to a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Gulls in front of 5,199 at Save Mart Center.

Fresno's Derek Krestanovich absorbed a hit at his own blueline to spring Weaver and Sutter on a 2-on-0 rush with the latter finishing past Gulls goaltender Trevor Koenig to open the scoring 12:17 into the hockey game. San Diego tied the contest in the final minute of the first period when Sylvain Deschatelets found Guillaume Fornier back-door at 19:36 to send the game to the second tied at one.

Weaver gave the Falcons their second lead of the night after taking a perfect pass from just inside the Gulls blueline from Kevin Truelson and beating Koenig with a move to his forehand at 5:54 of the second. Jaeger kept San Diego at bay throughout the period, making saves on all 15 shots he faced, to keep Fresno ahead, 2-1, after 40 minutes.

The Falcons played conservatively in the third as they continued to ride Jaeger and their one-goal lead until David Brisson fed Tessier on a two-on-one, who finished top shelf for an insurance goal at 17:17. Fresno would end up needing the breathing room as Tessier's tally turned into the game-winner after Colin Shields pulled the Gulls back to within one on the power play at 18:16. The Falcons weathered one final storm over the final :50 seconds with Koenig pulled in favor of an extra attacker but held on to win, 3-2, despite getting out-shot, 38-17, for the hockey game.

The victory is Fresno's third straight at home and lifts their record to 4-7-1 and nine points on the season.

Up next for the Falcons is a Thanksgiving Night date with the Victoria Salmon Kings at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m. For every non-perishable food item fans bring, they will receive a $5 ticket good for any seating section. All food items will be donated to the Community Food Bank.

Tickets are on sale for the game for as low as $8 per seat and may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
